Directions: How It Works Negative Ions cause large water droplets on the hair to be broken up into smaller drops. Quiet!
This little hair dryer has been great for my purposes. It puts out plenty of heat but not as much air as louder dryers. I have long straight hair and it dries it in less that ten minutes. Most important to me is that it's very quiet. My ears are sensitive to noise so I love this about it. I have had it for atleast 6 years and I travel so much it finally has a large crack in it. In my search for a replacement (as this one is currently unavailable) I have not been able to find a quieter one. So far I've tried out every hair dryer at drugs stores and large chains nearby that says on the box "super quiet" or "quiet." An at home comparison has shown that even at the same air flow they were not as quiet or quieter. The only hair dryers I have known to be quieter are the ones where I get my hair done but they are not in my price range.

great style and size....
I was surprised to see the below review. I am in my mid 30's and cannot open certain jars or cans it hurts my hands so much. The switch on this dryer can be turned on with one hand, a hand that does not function as well as others too. I tried it after I read this review. Perhaps the person got a bad dryer with a sticky switch. Regardless, I bought mine for $19.99 (more than here) at a local store. I love the style and the ion feature. My hair feels so soft when I use it on the lowest setting. The dryer is not only compact but also quiet. I use mine everyday and just love it! My hair has never been so soft! A few weeks ago I went to Germany and was staying at a hotel that had a hair dryer already. Knowing this was dual voltage I brought it along. It runs a bit hotter on 220 volt but I still love the way it styled my hair. I would recommend this hair dryer. I cannot think of one negative feature about it.

Actually works abroad
I took this hair dryer from the U.S. to Italy, Switzerland and Germany, and it worked perfectly with full power. I have tried other dual voltage dryers that promise the same, but this is the first I have found that really works. It's a great small travel dryer with lots of power.

So-So Dryer, Way too loud!
I am only giving this product 3/5 stars because of how loud it is. In Low setting it is fine but once you turn it to high- Look Out! It is so very loud that it might be damaging to your ears, seriously, having it close to your ears on a daily basis is a concern. I bought this on sale at Target for 16.99 and I will be returning it. My quest for a sufficient Ion Dryer continues. Also, I noticed the dryer left my hair wavy after drying, whereas my previous dryer left my hair straight... I am not sure why or how this would happen, but it something I noticed that I did not like. After using this VS blowdryer I had to bust out the hair straightner (more time spent than I wanted). Anyhow, the dryer works, just not for me. My suggestion is too look elsewhere for a dryer.

I bought this hair dryer and absolutely love it. It delivers great heat, and dries my hair in a snap. I like all the different heat and settings and the ion controls are great as well.

I bought this straightener in June 2006 and it still works great! The only 'problem' it has solid ceramic plates, which can break if you drop it. Which is what happened to mine, only a small part of one corner. So it's still usable. I will buy this exact model if I can find it. I have purchased this little iron as a replacement for my expensive one I had purchased a wile ago. I did a lot of research and this one has all the futures I was looking for. I did not expect it to be anything great, but I was in for a big surprise. This iron works just as good as my "professional" one. It heats up fast, stays hot; my hair was very soft and shiny; the plates are very easy to clean. I did not have to go over the same chunk of hair again and again. This iron did the job right the first time. Now, this iron is brand new, I only used it several times, so I can not say how long it will last, but so far I will recommend it to anyone.

I love this iron!
I bought this iron after deciding there was no way I could justify paying $120 for a Chi. I was not disappointed with my purchase! This iron is great. It's the perfect width (I feel 1 inch is too small, 2 inches too big), and it's pretty affordable. I have tried other irons in the past, but this is by far my favorite.

doesn't straighten in one pass, but it does straighten really well after a few. gets quite hot, i use the hottest setting. i live in texas, humid as crazy so, getting my curly hair straight is quite a feat.

Great two-in one
This is a great straightener and is especially nice because it has a curved side that allows you to curl hair as well. Works great.

Excellent straightener
Heats up in seconds, works great and fast. Is rather large, so it would have been easier if one could hang it to cool off. Unfortunately, this is not an option, so it needs a heat proof space, as it takes a while to cool down. Locking feature is slightly awkward, but overall works very well.

Great product
This VS Sassoon hair straightener works surprisingly well. The one I'd been using before this one pales in comparison to it. It heats up in seconds, requires no water, and flattens on the spot. very pleased
I am extremely pleased with this hair straightener. I already have straight hair but when it's at shoulder length, it flips at the ends and is uncontrolable. When I first tried it, the straightening had worked automatically. It heats up in a mintue too! It was very cheap and it works like magic. Heat Settings Not Marked
There are no markings for the heat settings and I am not sure whether to spin the dial clockwise or counter clockwise to increase/decrease the heat. Either way feels really hot to me and I don't want to leave my finger on the flat iron long enough to do a "feel the heat" test. Advice appreciated.

I love it!
I have had this hair dryer for almost 4 years. It works great. It's easy to travel with even though it looks big. After a few years the comb-teeth started to break off and that's more because I didn't take care of it much. Otherwise, it lasts longer, still runs great and has solved all my hair needs ever!! I used to have the older version of this that lasted me 3 years also (1999-2002) when it finally died. I can't live without this dryer!

Finally Found It
My last VS dryer quit working and after buying the Andis 1875 3-months ago as a replacement and using it until I couldn't stand it anymore, I searched and found the VS in the Housewares section of Amazon (only 3 left in stock) after I received message from the other Amazon area where hairdryers are listed that the VS was out of stock. This VS model is lighter than the Andis, has the correct brush that will lift your hair (the Andis' Boars Hair bristles brush is like using a soft paint brush to brush your hair)and the VS has 3-speeds which include the Medium/heat speed I was missing (Andis only has a Hi and Low / with a Turbo button that's hard to reach). Since this VS is apparently no longer in production (but should be) I should have done like a few other reviewers noted and bought two. The last VS I had was similar to this one and lasted 10-years before the cord shorted out (from too much twisting). At this rate, two more would last 20 -years. That's a good deal.

NOT FOR FINE HAIR
I purchased this @ a store before I knew Amazon carried it,.and payed more for it,.at any rate, this makes my fine hair even limpier than normal. It has to do with the ions. Ionic and tourmaline hair dryers are not good for fine hair no matter what anyone says. On the lowest setting it is too strong and the heat is barely enough to set the hair. On the max setting,.(there are only 2), it blows so strong it could take your head off. Also not good for fine hair. Max watts should be no more than 1500 for fine hair. Also,..why is it so difficult to find a regular ionic fee, tourmaline free hair dryer that is junk?
All in all,..don't get this if you have truly fine hair,..if you have fine hair but a lot of it,..I guess it's ok.

Already Dead
I bought this blow dryer maybe 6 to 9 months ago. It started "shorting out" several months ago. It died on Sunday. My last blowdryer lasted for five or six years so I didn't save the warranty information for this one. My bad.

I didn't know a dryer could be so bad
My Revlon RV484 quit and I'm not in the market to upgrade, but hoped I could do better for my fine hair. Off to the a local beauty supply store and who knew - a dryer for fine hair! However, the excitement was short-lived. I've used this for the last 4 days and my hair looks horrible - flat and oily. I keep changing the ion levels - it was set to max out of the box and that was the best result - but my hair looks worse every day. I'm returning this and will rebuy the 484 if I have to.

Styling Comb Makes the Difference!
This is the only hairdryer that works to style my fine, limp hair, & I'm frustrated that more hairdryers are not modeled after this one. I have not seen one in stores for years, so it was great to find it available online.

Great Hair Dryer by Vidal Sassoon
I have used this hair dryer for a several months and am very pleased with it. I had a perm when I first used this hair dryer and used the diffuser to avoid frizz. It worked great. My granddaughter who has long thick hair used it while visiting and was pleased with how quick it dried her hair.

With the diffuser on this hair dryer is a little heavy, but I think any hair dryer with a diffuser on is a little awkward. Now that I am no longer using the diffuser, I find this to be a very comfortable hair dryer that dries my hair quickly. I like the choice of temperatures and speeds this dryer offers.

You won't find a better hair dryer for the money!

Easy Hair Styling from Vidal Sassoon
Hair dryers are one of life's necessary products and even though I rarely use them, I still recognize the need and that is part of the reason I own this hair dryer from Vidal Sassoon. I rarely use a hair dryer but even with my limited usage, I can clearly see the advantages of owning a hair dryer like this one. First, it is nice to have three different heat settings and two different air flow speeds. I have owned simpler devices before that only offered two heat settings and one speed. On warm heat and high airflow, my hair is completely dry in about two to three minutes. There is a higher heat setting that would probably do the trick even faster but I avoid this setting because it is too hot on my head.

Vidal Sassoon Professional also offers special attachments and added features that make it a good choice for those with longer hair and special hair problems. One added feature is the ionizer. This is easily turned on or off using the switch on the top of the hair dryer. Ionization, I have been told, seals in moisture, makes the hair dry faster, and eliminates frizziness. This feature is very nice for those with longer hair because it can help lessen the need for conditioner and other hair products.

The diffuser that comes with this hair dryer is very good and quite large in size. It is very effective because of its size and because it has so many prongs (12 in total). It makes curly hair look very nice, diffusing the heat in an efficient manner so that no small area is getting blasted with excess heat.

Other features on this hair dryer include a cold blast feature and the straightening device. The cold blast is designed to quickly blast the hair with cold air to help hold a style in place and it probably works best on those with long, straight hair. The straightening device is, again, for people who have straight hair, want to straighten their hair, or want only a small amount of wave. It isn't useful to us but it seems to be a good attachment and it easily snaps on and off the front of the hair dryer.

Overall, this hair dryer is a very good device that performs to near perfection on people with short hair (like most any hair dryer) and works well for those with longer hair thanks to the additional features and extra attachments. Add to that the three heat levels, two speeds, and 1875 watts of power and you have the makings of a professional hair styling device- one that offers the essential features to give most people the final results they want at a low cost.

It's good!
I was just drying my hair with this dryer, and felt like writing a review.
I appreciate and genuinely enjoy using it every day, and I've had it for about 2 years now.
Some of the good things I'd like to mention are:
- The power: it's more powerful than any other blow dryer I've used, which makes drying much faster.
- The weight: I haven't thought about this too much until I read the other reviews, and, you know, they're right! I would definitely say that it's on the lighter side, and it's small, too. You don't get tired of holding it, but that may also be because your hair dries faster, so you don't have to hold it as long.
- The temperature: it's not too hot! I find this aspect extremely important because it helps not to overdry/cook your hair and your face.
- The price: it's good!

LOVE this blow dryer
I purchased this blow dryer for my teenaged daughter for Christmas and now I wish I had purchased one for myself. It is light and small, BUT very powerful. Not only is it the perfect travel dryer, but also perfect for every day use. Our arms don't get tired holding it up. The only thing that doesn't make sense is why you can turn off the "ion" feature since this in an "ion" dryer. We turned it off and it didn't blow dry any slower or faster. Great little blow dryer that we definitely recommend. Great price, too.

Works really great
after quite a wait, I finally received this. works really great, my hair seems to be in better condition. the only drawback is that its a little on the heavy side.

It's true--the ionization does work for fine hair!
I read the reviews and decided I needed a second dryer just in case my other one pooped out when dashing out of the shower for work, so I bought this one. It was a good choice. Fine hair will dry rapidly but this dryer gives the hair more body and shine.
The only thing which wasn't a plus for me was the loudness of the motor when it's on medium, and high is much too shrill near your ears as you dry your hair.
It is worth the price and Amazon is a good place to make a purchase.

From unkempt poodle to sleek afghan hound...
I have long, thick, curly hair. Think Kerri Russell without the full time stylist. The humidity where I live makes it very hard to style and even harder to hold the style. Enter this jewel. One handed styling with the comb attachments works wonders and the ionic technology dries my hair faster, shinier, and straighter than anything else I have ever used. A few small issues: the brush attachment is absolutely useless. I would have preferred a concentrator. The fine tooth comb, necessary for a smooth finish, is starting to loose its teeth after only four months. When I have tried to use the dryer without any attachments, it overheats, but this is easily resolved by simply keeping one of the combs on at all times. I love my new soft and sleek look and feel that my hair is healthier than ever before.
